Eating at the Museum

The Family Museum has limited indoor and outdoor eating spaces available for any group scheduled over the noon hour. If you would like to reserve lunch facilities for your group, please make arrangements while scheduling your visit. Local parks and fast food restaurants are available within a few blocks of the museum.

Shopping at the "Corner Store"

While you are visiting the Family Museum stop by our Corner Store. You will find terrific exhibit-related items, books, teaching materials and a section designed especially with your field trip kids in mind. A 10% discount is available for educators on the day of their class visit.

Transportation Subsidy

Subsidies are available for some area schools to help with transportation costs. Scott, Muscatine and Louisa County Schools are eligible for subsidies. Download the transportation subsidy request form (.pdf format).

Please note: The 2006-2007 school year subsidies have already been distributed.  Additional funds will be available in September for the 2007-2008 school year.

  • Moline Schools are eligible for subsidies made possible by funds from the Moline Foundation.
  • Rock Island/Milan School District subsidies are made possible by funds from the Doris and Victor Day Foundation.
  • Inquire about a transportation subsidy reimbursement when registering.

Study Trip Scholarships

Through generous support from the Scott County Auto Dealers Association, funds are available for subsidized museum visit admission fees. These funds allow students who meet the federal free and reduced lunch program guidelines to receive subsidized admission to the Family Museum during a school group field trip. The reduced rate is $.50 per child representing a $1.50 savings. (This rate does not apply to workshop fees.)
