Whether you want to celebrate a birthday or other special event with your friends and family, the Family Museum is just the place to be!

The Family Museum’s Birthday Party is one of the most fun around!

Each Celebration Package includes:

Party Times
There are several times from which you can choose to celebrate your special event: Saturdays at 10 a.m., 12:30 p.m., or 3 p.m. and Sundays at 12:30 p.m. or 3 p.m. (Please call for any additional times available.)

Booking Your Birthday Party or Special Event
To book your special celebration at the Family Museum, call the Visitor Services Coordinator at (563) 344-4106 to plan your special day. Reservations for birthday parties are confirmed by a $25 non-refundable deposit. Reservations for special events are confirmed by a $100 non-refundable deposit. Arrival time should be no more than ten minutes prior to starting time. One adult chaperone is required for every five children.

Party Packages/Costs

Birthday Bash a basic party designed for flexibility and fun!

Total party time: You get 1 1/2 hours of exclusive use of the decorated Celebration Room and unlimited free time to visit the Museum’s fabulous exhibits.

Cost: $60 for Museum members; $85 for non-members for up to eight children. There is a $5 fee for each additional child. Maximum number of 25 children. One adult chaperone is required and admitted free for every five children. Other adults will be charged $2 each. Food options available for an additional fee.

The Big Birthday Party a larger, longer party for up to 25 of your friends!

Total party time: You get 4 hours of exclusive use of the decorated Celebration Room plus unlimited time to visit the Museum exhibit gallery.

Cost: $120 for members; $170 for non-members for up to 16 children. There is a $2 fee for each additional child. Maximum of 25 children. One adult chaperone is required and admitted free for every five children. Other adults will be charged $2 each. Food options available for an additional fee.

Party Food Options
You may want to bring your own food, beverages and party supplies. However, the Museum offers an optional food package for your convenience. For $40 the Museum will provide a 1/4 sheet cake (chocolate or white), Dairy Queen® soft serve, punch and paper place settings for the children.

 

The Special Event!
For any group that would like to hold an open house-type event. Create a memorable afternoon for your group. The Family Museum will provide a great location, private Celebration Room and a whole Museum of hands-on fun. You may bring your own food, beverages and party supplies. What a unique way to celebrate that special anniversary, family reunion or group gathering.

Total party time: You have exclusive use of the Celebration room and admission to the Museum exhibits for the entire afternoon. Seating capacity of the Celebration Room is 35 people. Choose Saturday 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. or Sunday 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. to have your special event.

Special Event Cost:

  • Museum members $75 plus $2 per person, minimum cost is $100
  • Non-members  $100 plus $2 per person, minimum cost is $125
  • No charge for children one year old and younger.

There is a $100 non-refundable deposit required to hold your time slot. One adult is required for supervision of every five children in the exhibit galleries.

The museum will provide:

  • Special Event Party Tips sheet
  • A small sink and counter space, but no kitchen facilities
  • 35 chairs and 4 tables (30” X 72”)
  • Room size is 31’ X 21’, capacity 35 people
  • 12’ of counter space

Expectations of Special Event Host:

  • Leave the room as you find it
  • No liquor may be served.
  • Children entering the gallery must be supervised by an adult with a ratio of not less than one adult to five children.

 

 

Private Party Facility Rental

 

The Family Museum will be made available on a contractual basis to private parties who wish to rent the facility between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

 

Private party facility rental is available between the hours of 5pm and 8pm.  Setup times must be made ahead of time with an authorized Family Museum official.

 

Fee for private party facility rental is $300 plus a $100 refundable minor damage deposit, and reservations are confirmed upon payment of a $150 deposit.  In addition to the $300 fee, there will be a $2 per person charge for each guest who attends.  A full refund of deposits will be given if cancellation of event is made in writing no less than 14 days in advance.

 

Payment of the remainder of the rental fee and proof of supplemental insurance is required no less than 3 days in advance.

 

Private party facility rental includes use of the Family Museum’s Great Hall, Exhibit Gallery and Celebration Room.  At least one Family Museum employee will be on site during setup, the entire event and teardown.  Additional room arrangements can be made in advance (additional fees may apply).

 

12 banquet style tables and up to 125 chairs are made available at no additional cost.  Arrangements for said tables and chairs must be made no later than three weeks in advance of event.  Additional amenities such as table cloths, party favors, A.V. equipment, easels, stage, etc can be made available if arrangements are made three weeks in advance of event (additional fees may apply).  Lessee is responsible for setup and teardown.

 

Alcoholic beverages are permitted as long as guests consuming said beverages are properly identified as of legal drinking age.  The lessee may not charge for alcoholic beverages.

 

Facility is not open to the public for lessee to charge admission.  Lessee must act as host and may not charge for goods or services at said event.

 

At events in which minors will be present, there must be at least a 6:1 child to adult ratio.

 

All rentals are subject to Family Museum Board approval.

The renting party is responsible for providing the Family Museum with proof of supplemental liability insurance.  The renting party is responsible for any damage, accidents or injuries that may occur during said party.  Supplemental liability insurance coverage must be at least $300,000.  If alcohol is provided at said event, supplemental liability insurance coverage must be at least $1,000,000.  The Family Museum and the City of Bettendorf are to be listed as additional insured on your policy.  Supplemental liability insurance can usually be acquired by contacting your home-owners insurance company, and asking for a one-day insurance rider to your home-owners insurance policy.  Insurance companies generally do not charge a fee for this service.

Use of meeting rooms and the facility in no way implies Family Museum endorsement of ideas expressed in the meetings and parties, or of the aims and goals of the organizations using the facilities. In case a question is raised as to the objectives and activities of any organization, group or individual requesting use of the meeting rooms or facility, the Family Museum Board shall be the final authority in granting or refusing permission for the use of the rooms. Organizations may not advertise the use of the Museum facility in any way that implies sponsorship or endorsement by the Family Museum other than to indicate the name and address of the facility.  Interpretation of this policy is left to the discretion of the Family Museum Director or her/his designee. Final authority rests with the Board of Trustees.

Private Party Catering Options

The Family Museum has had the privilege of working with caterers in the past who have enjoyed their experience at the Museum.  They are familiar with the Family Museum’s floor plan and all of the preparation necessary to make an event at the Museum a success.  You are welcome to use any food and beverage service you like, however may we suggest the following caterers who may make your event extra special:
