Whether you want to celebrate a birthday or other special event with your friends and family, the Family Museum is just the place to be! The Family Museum's Birthday Party is one of the most fun around!

Party Times

There are several times from which you can choose to celebrate your special event: Saturdays at 10 a.m., 12:30 p.m., or 3 p.m. and Sundays at 12:30 p.m. or 3 p.m. (Please call for any additional times available.)

Booking Your Birthday Party

To book your special celebration at the Family Museum, call the Visitor Services Coordinator at (563) 344-4106 to plan your special day. Reservations for birthday parties are confirmed by a $25 non-refundable deposit. Arrival time should be no more than ten minutes prior to starting time. One adult chaperone is required for every six children.

Party Packages/Costs

Birthday Bash - a basic party designed for flexibility and fun!

Total party time: You get 1 1/2 hours of exclusive use of the decorated Celebration Room and unlimited free time to visit the Museum's fabulous exhibits.

Cost: $85 for up to eight children. There is a $6 fee for each additional child. Maximum number of 25 children. One adult chaperone is required and admitted free for every six children. Other adults will be charged $3 each. Food options available for an additional fee. Family Museum members recieve 10% off entire party.

The Big Birthday Party - a larger, longer party for up to 25 of your friends!

Total party time: You get 4 hours of exclusive use of the decorated Celebration Room plus unlimited time to visit the Museum exhibit gallery.

Cost: $170 for non-members for up to 16 children. There is a $6 fee for each additional child. Maximum of 25 children. One adult chaperone is required and admitted free for every six children. Other adults will be charged $3 each. Food options available for an additional fee. Family Museum members receive 10% off entire party.

Birthday Themes - $35 in addition to Basic Birthday Party Price (up to 8 kids, $50.00 for 9 or more kids)

Dinosaur Party- Treat your little paleontologist to our new Dinosaur Party. Led by a Museum staffer, the children will hunt for dinosaurs in the party room and play a round of dinosaur bowling. Dinosaur treats will fill their bags. This theme is suitable for ages 4 and up. This add-on also comes with a 10% off coupon (20% for Family Museum members) for items in our Corner Store.

 

Princess Party- Your children have the option to come in costume and enjoy ROYAL treatment at the Family Museum if you add on our Princess Party option.  We supply tiaras, a craft activity, and a game of "pin the crown on the princess" or "pin the fire on the dragon."  If you have any Knights or Princes in your group, we will provide an alternate activity for them at no additional cost.

Rocket Party- Experience rocket science at the Family Museum!  With our rocket theme your party guests will construct, decorate, and launch rockets in our Great Hall.  Activity is led by a Museum staffer and includes a package of rocket balloons for the birthday guest. 
 
Dance Party- Ask and you shall receive! Available now - dance themed parties! This add-on includes half an hour with one of our dance instructors. Depending on the age and dance interests of your children, our instructors will customize activities for your party. Are your kids really into princesses? Do they want to learn some hip-hop moves? We offer movement games and dances for just about any age or style of dance. The Dance Party theme is ONLY available on Saturday afternoons. Wear socks and clothes you can move in, and DANCE with the Family Museum.

 
Pirate Party- Avast, me hearties!  Come dressed as scallywags and buccaneers for the Family Museum's new Pirate Party theme.  Hunt for pirate booty, complete a take home activity (decorate a wooden chest), and Walk the Plank to earn your just reward!

 

Junior Detective Party- Encourage your party goers to dress like detectives: blazers, hats, long overcoats, etc. A party that will utilize your best investigative skills, our Junior Detective Party includes Guessing Games, a Riddle Hunt, and secret message or fingerprinting activity.

 

Heartfelt Celebrations-We at the Family Museum feel that one of the best ways to celebrate your own life is to enrich the lives of others, and the aim of our Heartfelt Celebration party is to do just that. Have your guests bring birthday party items such as cake mix, frosting, candles, balloons, or a special toy.  The party includes a craft activity: a Museum staff member will guide guests in making birthday cards to send with the donated items.The Family Museum will then give these items, along with a free visit to the Family Museum, to a family in need in the community.
